Bryson Elementary PTA Bylaw Changes Explained

1)      Article VI: Officers – Election, Qualifications, and Vacancies, Section 1.

Previously read, “The elected officers of this association shall be president;   2   (number) vice-president(s), one of whom may be a president-elect; a secretary; and a treasurer; and shall be hereafter referred to as the Executive Committee.”

Now reads, “The elected officers of this association shall be president;   1   (number) vice-president(s), one of whom may be a president-elect; a secretary; and a treasurer; and shall be hereafter referred to as the Executive Committee.”

This more accurately reflects our current board structure.

2)      Article VI: Officers – Election, Qualifications, and Vacancies, Section 4, Letter c.

Previously read, “No officer may be eligible to serve more than   5   (number) consecutive term(s) per office. If the unit has elected a president-elect, the president may only serve one term.”

3)      Article IX: Committees, Section 1.

Previously read, “To facilitate the ongoing work of the PTA, standing committees shall include, but not be limited to (please list committees) Ways & Means, Membership, Bear Fair, Reflections, Sunshine Math, Terrific Kids

Now reads, “To facilitate the ongoing work of the PTA, standing committees shall include, but not be limited to (please list committees) Ways & Means, Membership, Reflections, Hospitality, Beartracks, Volunteer Coordinator

This more accurately reflects our current board structure.

4)      Article XI:  Meetings of the General Membership, Section 4.

Previously read, “  7   (number) members shall constitute a quorum for the transaction of business in any general membership meeting of this association. It is recommended that this number be at least equal to the number of officers and committee chairs, plus 5% of the total membership.

Now reads, “  20   (number) members shall constitute a quorum for the transaction of business in any general membership meeting of this association. It is recommended that this number be at least equal to the number of officers and committee chairs, plus 5% of the total membership.”

This more accurately reflects the number that should be used given our number of PTA members.
